I know what you are dreaming of…

You: finally holding your beautiful, healthy new born baby in a bubble of bliss after a wonderful, calm birth experience where you felt completely in control and didn’t find the most painful thing you could ever imagine!

Like any important event in life it is going to require a bit of planning. Theres no way you would walk in to your wedding day without a serious amount of preparation and planning to make it the day of your dreams.  I’m here to tell you birth is no different.

What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is not one thing. It’s lots of little things that together create a powerful tool that can have a very positive influence on your birth. You’ll learn how to keep your mind and body calm and relaxed, understand the physiology of birth and manage labour pain in various ways.

Education on the birth process – know what to expect and work with your body

Knowledge about your birth rights and options so that you can make the right decisions for you and your baby

Learn to foster a positive birth mindset

Helps your birth partner feel more actively involved

You’ve probably heard someone saying by now, “There’s no point in planning for birth when birth never goes to plan.”

Its true – birth can be pretty unpredictable but I have first hand experience in not planning for birth and here’s what I’ve learned: Not planning for birth can leave you feeling pretty powerless in the birth room, handing over your experience to others, loosing touch with what you want and missing out on opportunities to shape yours and your babies experience.

Planning for birth isn’t about rigidly sticking to a script. It’s about understanding your options, preparing for the unexpected, and staying grounded in your preferences. It’s about creating a space where you feel safe, informed, and empowered.

Hypnobirthing can’t guarantee you a perfect birth (nothing can),  but it will prepare you for the physical and emotional aspects of birth, give you natural ways to manage labour pain and optimise your birth and have you more emotionally equipped to deal with if birth deviates from your ideal

Do you want to learn techniques to use in labour to keep you relaxed and help manage labour pain?

Jenna of ABC hypnobirthing in Shrewsbury offers antenatal hypnobirthing courses in Telford

My private Hypnobirthing courses will prepare you for every aspect of your birth journey leaving you feeling informed, confident and ready for this incredible chapter of your lives.

It all starts with your hormones

When you feel stressed, anxious, or out of control, your body produces a cocktail of stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones can slow down or even block the production of oxytocin—the amazing hormone responsible for starting and maintaining labor.

During labor, it plays a vital role in triggering and sustaining contractions, helping them become longer, stronger, and more effective.

This is why creating a calm, supportive environment and managing stress is so important during labor. Hypnobirthing techniques such as breathing exercises, and relaxation strategies, can help keep stress at bay. This allows oxytocin to flow freely and support a smoother labour.

Oxytocin is so important in labour & birth

The course is appropriate any time from 20 weeks most people attend the course between 20 and 35 weeks however I have taught people just days before they have given birth – it’s never too late.

Absolutely! Having your partner attend a Hypnobirthing course with you is incredibly beneficial—for both of you. Here’s why:

Birth Partner Benefits

It’s normal for birth partners to be sceptical at first – after all, you’re usually the one who had read up about the benefits of hypnobirthing first. Here’s some reasons why you’ll want to attend a course together.

They’ll become your best support person.

In a Hypnobirthing course, your partner learns how to support you during labor effectively. They’ll understand how to help you stay calm, remind you of your preferences, and create a positive, peaceful environment.

They’ll feel more involved

Birth isn’t just about the birthing person—it’s a shared experience. Hypnobirthing gives your partner practical tools to actively participate, whether that’s guiding you through breathing exercises, providing affirmations, or advocating for your wishes with healthcare providers.

They’ll feel more confident

Birth can feel overwhelming for partners too. Hypnobirthing demystifies the process, helping them understand what’s happening and what they can do to help. This knowledge can replace anxiety with confidence and calm.

It will strengthen your bond

Preparing for birth together fosters connection. Working as a team during the course and labor itself can deepen your bond and create a shared sense of accomplishment..

They’ll learn skills they can use beyond birth too

The relaxation techniques, communication strategies, and breathing exercises taught in Hypnobirthing aren’t just for labor—they’re tools your partner can use to support you throughout pregnancy and even in everyday life.
