Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing is an evidence-based approach to birth that seeks to empower you with mindset & practical tools for a positive and empowering birth experience. By the end of the course you will feel informed about the physiology of birth, equipped with techniques for managing labour pain, and tools for how to make informed decisions during your pregnancy and birth.

Our classes are designed for expectant parents, whether you’re a first-time parent or have previous birth experiences. Partners are encouraged to attend as well, as their support and involvement are integral to the hypnobirthing process. Hypnobirthing is for every person and every birth whether you plan to have your baby in hospital or at home, if you have an induction or cesarean birth. Even those labeled as high risk or with special circumstances can still use hypnobirthing and may benefit even more so!

You can begin hypnobirthing classes anytime, but most people start between 24 and 32 weeks of pregnancy as it allows ample time to practice the techniques and fully prepare for birth. Go with what feels right for you, I have taught couples who were feeling particularly anxious from very early on in pregnancy and others at 37+ weeks with it still having a hugely positive effect on their birth. It is never too late!

Evidence based antenatal education on the birth process, what to expect and how to work with your body.  Information on your birth rights and options to enable you to make better decisions.  Mindset work and hypnobirthing skills and techniques e.g. self hypnosis, guided relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, visualisation, and positive affirmations. We also cover practical information about the birthing process, pain management options, and how to create a positive birthing environment. Classes are interactive and supportive, with plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.

My program is normally taught as a full day workshop from 10am -5pm.  Private courses have more flexibility to suit the client. I also offer birth coaching by the hour.

Absolutely! I encourage partners or birth companions to attend if they wish to play an active role in the labour.  The course helps a birth partner understand the birth process and know how to support it in the best way.  Their involvement can enhance the effectiveness of the techniques and provide essential support during labor.

Hypnobirthing can help reduce fear and anxiety, promote relaxation, and create a more positive birth experience. Many parents report shorter labor times, reduced need for pain relief, and a greater sense of control and empowerment during childbirth.

The cost of our hypnobirthing courses varies depending on the format and location. Please visit our service/events page or contact us directly for detailed information on our current rates and packages.

We recommend bringing a yoga mat or blanket, a pillow to aid relaxation, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. You may also want to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes.
